Ganna wins shortened Vuelta stage: Race organizers made the unprecedented decision Wednesday evening to slash the time trial distance by more than half after pro-Palestine demonstrations targeted multiple stages throughout the three-week race. Over 450 police officers and 150 security guards were deployed in Valladolid, with two protesters arrested for attempting to jump barriers.

According to a statement from race organizers, the shortened route was implemented “with the aim of ensuring greater protection for the stage” in coordination with Valladolid City Council and the College of Commissaires. The protests have primarily targeted Israel-Premier Tech, whose riders have faced interruptions and safety concerns throughout the race.
